Principal's Message

From the Principal:

Hello Raider parents,

I am Julius Lucas, III the principal of East Elementary. It is indeed an honor and privilege to serve as the instructional leader of East Elementary. Our staff is committed to providing academic excellence in a safe, secure, and loving environment for our students. Our school serves students from grades 3-5 and we are excited for the upcoming school year. We are here to serve you and your child for all of their academic needs.

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District offers Chromebooks and hotspots for every student so that they can enjoy technology for educational purposes at home. This can be used for virtual learning as well as enrichment and remediation programs offered by our school. If you have not done so, please come by our school and pay the $15 fee so that your child has their Chromebook and hotspot. For more information, we may be contacted by phone at 662-459-8013. Also, you can email me at jlucas@glcsd.org or my assistant principal dbrownlee@glcsd.org and we will do our best to answer any questions. Please continue to check our district website at glcsd.org and our Facebook page for any updates.

Thank you, stay safe, and as always… Go Higher!

Educationally yours,

Julius Lucas, III  Ed.S

East Elementary Principal

Message from Mrs. Brownlee:

Greetings students, parents, and stakeholders,

I am Deirdre Keys-Brownlee, the assistant principal at East Elementary. I am elated to serve you in this capacity as we strive to build a collaborative culture of teaching and learning in an effort to elevate everyone’s capacity. We are working very diligently to ensure the needs of each student, parent, and stakeholder is met from the educational arena.

As we increase virtual learning, virtual meetings, and virtual collaboration, I would like to encourage you to become familiar with the resources we will be using this year. Canvas and Google classroom are the two platforms we will use for our virtual classroom. The Remind App will be used as a direct communication from teachers and administrators to you. Google Meet and Zoom will be used for virtual meetings. Please ensure we have updated contact information at all times so you don’t miss important information about assignments, school closures, or any other pertinent information.

Thank you for entrusting the administrators, faculty, and staff of East Elementary with the educational progression of your children. I look forward to the growth of each student. I pray that the educational experiences we collaboratively deliver this year will be super extraordinary in meeting the needs for you and your children.

If you have questions, or need to contact me for any reason, you may call my office at 662-374-7090 or email me at dbrownlee@glcsd.org.

Educationally yours,

Deirdre Keys-Brownlee
